Description

Native Plant Workshop

Native plants can be quite mysterious and have many interesting strategies to ensure their reproductive success in the wild—some of which can make them challenging to propagate in an artificial situation. This fall, learn about how Oxbow is unlocking some of our native plants' most compelling secrets and join us for our NEW hands-on Native Plant Workshops!

We will first explore the fascinating world of seeds, delving into collection, cleaning, storage, and methods of overcoming different types of seed dormancy. We’ll also introduce growing ferns from spores, and vegetative propagation via stem cuttings, rhizome cuttings, and divisions. Participate in this hands-on workshop and take home some native plant starts of your own!

Workshops are $20 per person for two hours of instruction, demonstration and hands-on participation. Students will take home some plant material of their own, plus a handout with propagation information covered in the class. Our annual Oxtober Pumpkin Festival will be in full swing during the workshops, so stay for the fun before or after the workshop!

Where: Oxbow's Native Plant Nursery
